Since most of this clan has done some sort of service or other, I thought you all might be interested in reading this. I'd been hearing about it and finally decided to find the article myself. As a recruiter myself right now, I see so much of this it concerns me as well. My station alone disqualifies about 85% of our applicants because they are overweight. Something else concerns me - I talk to adults that are running JrROTC programs and other youth programs around the area and what I hear amazes me - Mothers take their daughters to the ER after an ROTC instructor makes her run because her legs hurt and they don't know why, turns out her muscles were sore and she had never experienced it before. Another told me he had to call an ambulance because he made his class run and one female said she was having heart problems - paramedics informed her it was just beating fast from the exercise - what's insane is she didn't know why it was beating fast, and of course she was huge. What is going on in this country when people don't know why their heart is beating fast? Or what muscle soreness is?
