So this frickin' rocket launcher: the french rocket, the Gustav, asshole rocket, Carl Gaystav, etc. I had to know why it was called that because it's just one of those weapons in the game that you always call out by name. I don't really know gun names. Not even all the ones from DOD which I'd been playing FOREVER. But the Gustav? That shit sticks in your craw. No one says, I was g36'ed (though I often say I was Prototyped because that's a helluva weak name for a gun). But everyone says I was Gustaved. Or they just sigh and say, "... Gustav..." followed by "I'm gonna call it a night" sometimes.

So I looked this up because I should be working. For example, the US calls it: ..." the RAWS or Ranger Antitank Weapons System, but often called the Gustav or simply the Carl Johnson by US soldiers." I think they call it the Carl Johnson because it's going to feel like a giant Johnson has nailed you in the ass whenever you see/hear it coming.

But the real reason this weapon, whose first prototype was manufactured in FRICKIN' 1946, is called the Carl Gustav? The company that manufactures(ed) it is called Carl Gustav Stads Gevärsfaktori ("Rifle Factory of Carl Gustaf's town"). The town was named Carl Gustaf after King Karl X Gustav (he had to have been evil with that X in the middle of his name. Actually the X stands for 10th king, which was wrong because the IXth king couldn't count. anyway...) gave the town some city privileges. That particular king looks like Prince. So now, hopefully, when a french rocket (should be Swedish, but screw it, let's all hate the french together), you know some of what comes with it. And yes, I've been lower casing french on purpose. To any frenchies in the clan, I apologize. No, not really.

Call it the XM8!! You all just call it the protoype because that sounds corny, and Bang yells it! "Aaragh, Prototype!!"

I think we can all agree it's more funny when Bang yells the name of the weapon, particularly, "Ahhh, Knifed!" "Ahh, CARL GUSTAVED! Damn, damn, damn, damn!!!"

The Prototype is not a bad gun. I just started using it again to get the gold star for it. It's pretty solid. The only way I'll ever get up to 50 is by getting all the badges and stars for the guns and whatnot.

I'm gonna be miserable when I go to do the shotgun stuff...

Shotguns aren't that bad. Just take your time aiming before firing because if you hit, you will get the kill, even if you're being spewed by rifle bullets.

17 years in the Marine Corps infantry and never seen a modern version of the Gustav. Dodged a few rpg's...Crazy...

84mm SMAWs, LAWs, 40mm MK19s, TOWs, LAV 25s, shotguns, m60s, m240s,m249s, 45s, 9mms, 81mm/60mm mortars, shot damn near everything...but not that.

The xm8 I remember hearing about going into testing a number of years ago, woulda been cool to test it out.

Yeah, very impressive. And it's so clean, and his uniform is too. Must have just been deployed. It looks definitely like a photo op. Why not have this grenade launcher in the game as a 2ndary weapon to the engineer class?
